A New Chairman for Transforming Lives Together
Rev. Dr Andrew Knight has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Transforming Lives Together.
Andrew has served on the Board for the last 5 years as TLT has grown considerably in its work to tackle poverty, loneliness and social inequality by creating effective partnerships with churches and community organisations across the Diocese of Chester. Andrew is Vicar of St. Mary’s Church in the parish of Partington and Carrington, a large overspill housing estate on the outskirts of Manchester. With a heart for the poor and disadvantaged Andrew has also served as an Ambassador for the charity People Against Poverty with whom he has worked with street children and their families in Romania, and supports projects that reach the homeless in the city of Manchester.
Andrew says “I am delighted to be taking on this role at a pivotal time of innovative and sustainable growth in TLTs work in its 10th year. Week by week, with our practical and financial support and training, we are seeing new projects coming to fruition in our partner churches. Volunteers are living out their Christian faith by building new communities of hope, practical care and fellowship, transforming lives of many living with poverty or social isolation. It’s a privilege to lead a Board of Trustees who are all passionate advocates for social justice with a wide range of expertise and experience in this field.”
Supporting Andrew and the Board is Rev. Dr Margaret Jones, elected Vice Chair. Margaret has a wealth of experience in care for the poor and disadvantaged in ethnically diverse communities both as a teacher and a Vicar, and has more recently undertaken a doctorate in Practical Theology, exploring models of community engagement to address issues of social justice and environmental concern. Andrew succeeds the former Chairman the Ven. Ian Bishop who is shortly to be appointed Bishop of Thetford.
